Entry Requirements for The Level 3 in Dental Nursing
The Level 3 in Dental Nursing is a nationally recognised qualification and is designed to prepare you to work as a dental nurse. After successful completion will enable you to register with the General Dental Council (GDC) and practice as a qualified Dental Nurse. To get enrolled on the NCFE accredited Dental Nurse Course you must meet the following entry requirements criteria:
This Dental Nursing course is appropriate for learners aged 16+ and over. A valid visa with permission to work in the United Kingdom (non-UK resident students). National Insurance Number.
There are no formal entry or academic qualifications required. Learners enrolling on this course will be required to be fully vaccinated against Hepatitis B. All those working in NHS settings and in private health care settings learners that have to undertake a placement as part of their course will need to be fully vaccinated. Criminal Records Declaration (DBS/Disclosure).
Learners will need to be working or on practical placement to be able to show competence in both knowledge and skills. It is recommended that a minimum of 16 hours per week be spent in a real work environment. The Course duration – 12 months.
Lessons weekly One-to-One

Multiple Choice Test
This is a closed-book test and will be 90 minutes and consist of 45 multiple choice questions.
Observation in Practice
The Observation will last for 60 minutes to check knowledge and understanding relating to the skills and behaviours observed.
Professional Discussion underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence
The learner will use the Portfolio of Evidence as a reference to support their answers. The interview is 40 minutes following the Observation in Practice, which will access the knowledge, skills and behaviours identified in the assessment plan.
On completion of the Dental Nurser End-Point Assessment (EPA) learner can register with the General Dental Council as a qualified Dental Nurse.
